Shepherd’s hut on an old farm trailer

This was a very interesting project where my clients asked me to build them a shepherd’s hut on their old family farm trailer. The hut features a pull out varanda, kitchen unit with sink and storage, 12v lights and water pump for the tap, original wooden floor and a sofa tuning into a double bed.

Live-edge ash desk with geometric legs

This desk was purpose-built for an office/studio shepherd’s hut. The process of making a desk like this is quite involved. Simply put: the plank must be levelled and sanded, suitably braced and finished with a top coat. This particular piece of ash wood was bought from a supplier in the Lake District.

Unfortunately due to Ash Dieback, a fungal disease seriously affecting the European ash population, the fate of most ash trees across Europe is not looking good, and there's little that can be done about it. In England, the first case of the disease was recorded in 2012, and since then the disease has been identified across the country. Once the tree has the disease, it will slowly be starved of water and eventually die. Some of the wood, however, can be put to good use and there is a chance that ash trees will thrive once again in the future. Let’s hope that this is the case!

Steps for upper bunk

These steps were made for a made-to-order client using cedar and redwood, materials used throughout their shepherd’s hut.
